VINTAGE DENIM: IT AIN'T FOR EVERYONE

you might want to sit down for this blog post.
I'm going to admit something v unusual about myself.
it might be relatable for some, & others may judge me entirely, but...

I don't like vintage denim

that's right, I said it! & it's not in a "someone else wore them" kind of way (okay, maybe it is a little)it's in a "they don't work for everyone" way. I'm 5'2 with 35" wide hips & a 26" waist, jeans are nearly impossible for me to find. it's hard for me to depend on a thrift store's assortment and even harder to pay the overpriced mark-up on the jeans + the extensive tailoring I would need done.

so, I shop for my "vintage denim" at retailers giving everyone the opportunity to find clothes in their size. my go-to is the obvious: urban outfittersthe ones I'm wearing are from there. I have a few pair of super soft, high-waisted, "worn in" jeans from UO & they're all I wear. (sry to all my skinnies, I know how neglected you must feel...)

more retailers w/ a great "vintage" denim assortment

these blue raw-hem bbys are actually called the -mom jeans- and they're designed & washed to fit like that 90's denim used to, so for me, it makes more sense to buy 'em new, but like old. to each their own, right?

isn't that what's amazing about fashion,
the ability to wear whatever the f*%k you want, from wherever you want?
no matter the price tag, no matter the brand,
it's all about the look.

speaking of,

SHOP THE LOOK:

jeans, urban outfitters (old, similar) // tank, forever 21 // shoes, vans // sunglasses, juicy couture (old, similar)

so, hby: do you shop vintage denim,
or do you depend on trendy stores to get your fix?
tell me in the comments below. x

  1. You're not alone- I'm not really a vintage denim girl either! I don't get very trendy with jeans and I usually stick to dark skinny jeans. :)

  2. I'm not really a denim girl - lol! I just went thrifting with a friend and she had a similar problem but gets all of her jeans tailored and I thought that was genius! A perfect pair of vintage pants made to fit just right.

  3. I'm not a big fan of any used clothes. It always weirds me out a bit, you never know who wore it first. I can see how denim would be such a hard find.

  5. i don't get really into vintage denim either. I'm short, with short legs so it's tough finding jeans that fall right. i honestly rarely wear jeans at all and when i do they are pretty basic.

  7. I don't think all denim styles work for everyone and that's okay! I personally like vintage denim but I don't like flared jeans.
I really should go to UO for denim more often - the ones you're wearing here are so fabulous!!

    1. it must be so hard to find vintage denim w/o a flare! I feel like that's the most popular fit in thrift stores by me. & definitely check out their denim, you won't be disappointed. x
