I always knew I wanted to feel home away from home. it was a fleeting idea that I was curious about, how one could find comfort in a different location from where they'd originally had it. only recently did I find myself in a situation that allowed me to move out of my hometown to a new city—turns out you can take the girl from the beach...and willingly.
for quite some time, I've always felt this unease while in my old town. I think part of me knew sooner than the rest that it was time to move on. it'd always been something I talked about but never acted on 'til life forced me to. since then, I've had a calm to my chaos. it's not frequent but it's enough to help keep me sane.
there's something new to learn, see, feel around every street corner and down every block of my city, jersey city and that's why I love it here...and tbh, I never thought I'd admit to loving anywhere in new jersey. (#sorrynotsorry)

I've only ever driven through New Jersey, but I've always wanted to visit! I also have that "need to get out of my hometown" feeling, but I just haven't found my place yet.

DeleteWhat a darling little city. I think we all too often take our hometowns for granted. They can be quite exciting if you make the most of exploring them!
ReplyDeleteour hometowns help us grow into the person we're supposed to be, so I'll be forever thankful for that..but super excited to be some place new, learning new things. x
DeleteSo exciting to finally move out on your own. For a year after college, I lived in Austin - about 5 miles from my parents' house. Though I made my apartment my own, it never felt like "home" because my house was just a quick drive away. It wasn't till I moved to Dallas that I actually felt like my own home.
