MATCHA > COFFEE: WHY I STARTED DRINKING IT

with the new year, I decided to stop drinking coffee & introduced a new form of caffeine into my life: matcha.

for the longest time, I was your basic millennial coffee addict who drank it alllll day long and as I get older, my body hasn't been able to tolerate it. my anxiety sky rockets, the jitters are so real & my stomach started to reject it.

I am not a morning person and most days (okay, every day), I need an extra boost of energy so I had to find a substitute; I immediately knew it was going to be matchathe earthy 'lil drink that's given me more physical & mental stamina than any cup of coffee ever has.

matcha is specially grown & processed, ground up japanese green tea. rather than steeping a bag of leaves in your hot water/milk, you're dissolving them into it. this is why one cup of matcha has 3x more caffeine than green tea.

don't worry though! you will not be effected by
matcha the way you would by 3 cups of coffee.

the leaves are jam packed w/ the amino acid, l-theanine, which helps our brains relax but also stay focused & alert. this is why I'm hooked on that matcha highhhh, friends.

more health benefits of drinking matcha:

+ enhances concentration, endurance & energy levels
+ boosts metabolism & burns calories
+ v high in antioxidants! (5x more than most servings you'll find in other foods)
+ powerful detoxifier for the body
+ aids in strengthening immune system

I got this matcha latte w/ almond milk from the chalait that used to be in century 21's extension store, next century. while that location closed, there are more more throughout nyc & I'll definitely be checking 'em out.

    1. I'd totally recommend trying it as a latte! add some sugar if you want it sweeter, I drink w/o & it has an earthier, more green tea-like taste. x
