it took quite a few shopping trips for me to (finally) find the perfect denim mini skirt & I'm so pumped to finally start wearing it.
what I took into account while on the hunt:
+ length and what's appropriate
+ tightness & again, what's appropriate
+ comfort, because gone are the days I picked fashion > function
my coworkers called me out a few weeks ago for repeatedly saying I wanted to wear this shirt w/ a skirt, or that shirt w/ a skirt. (quick backstory: I work for century 21 dept. stores' ecomm dept. so I see all the merchandise that goes on the site, allowing me to shop our sample racks.) ironically, I remember saying a few years ago that I'd never wear a skirt again—I rebelled against super girly clothes, so aside from one staple black denim skirt, I owned none...'til my latest spring shopping haul, when I came home w/ three ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love 'em because they're so easy to wear: virtually all tops go with them & you can pair them with whatever shoe you want. in normal nicole fashion, I paired my skirt w/ my dr. marten's and my -favorite- oujia board tee I got from some no-name-shop in rhode island.
because skirts are trending for spring and summer, the possibilities are endless. don't limit yourself to just denim either! shop different patterns, textures & colors, like the ones below. (the first skirt is the one I'm wearing from forever 21.)
always remember: shop for your body, image & age. if something's feels too tight or too short, don't buy it...go for what's comfortable for you bbs!
I'm not usually much of a skirt person, but this may be the season I go back to my denim mini skirt ways! Love yours styled with your docs!
ReplyDeletesame girl! styling it w/ my dr. marten's is what helped me get back into wearing skirts - mixing it up with a 'lil grunge style! x
DeleteAll of those are super cute. I personally prefer a little longer skirt. When I sit they always go a little too high for my comfort!
ReplyDeletelove that you know what works for you & your preferences! (I'll admit, I get a little self conscious myself w/ that rise when you sit.) x
DeleteYessss I love love love mini skirts! You wear this so cute and I love how you pair with the booties!
ReplyDeletethx babe - hopefully giving you some spring style inspo! x
